So I finally saw a psychiatrist last week ( yah me ) and he suggested Tegretol as a mood stabiliser because its a med I have taken for childhood epilepsy many years ago.

Started off 5 days on 400mg then increased to 600mg on Sat and OMG No kidding I didnt wake up yesterday until damn near 2pm.

DS started back at school today so I was up at 8pm but here I am at 11:30am and again I am yawning every few seconds and all I can think about is lying down and sleeping.

Anyone else have this and please please tell me it passes

im sorry you are struggling; i wish i had some good advice but i just wanted to say hang in there and tell your dr all about it, i try to tell mine every single detail.. i am not on anything like that yet but i still feel extremely exausted and tired all of the time so i understand a little what you're goin through but i know with kids makes it so much more complicated ! it might be a side effect that can go away after a bit but it might be a conteraction with something too! i hope you feel better soon, and talk with the dr about it! we gotta weigh the pros and cons of any med we take - if it works or not for us , it might just be too high dose as well? i hope you get it straight!

Sorry to hear!! For me the only anti-convulant that helps is Lamictal at 600mg. It works great for bipolar depression at that dosage, doesn't cause fatigue, and is weight neutral. Also, for daily mood swings, Latuda is my miracle drug especially for bipolar depression!! Best of luck and hope you feel better. Btw, for OCD, Luvox CR works great and you might like Nuvigil for fatigue.

wow lots of helpful info there, he did talk about Lamictal too but decided to go with the tegretol because as I said I have a history with it.

Also possibly because I am more prone to Hypomania than depression ... gah ... who knows

I am just happy after 20 odd years someone finally is listening to me and not just coming back with the standard " Depression" " anxiety" DX.

Guess I will have to up my caffeine intake until I see him again.

I was just coming on here to ask about Tegretol and being exhausted.

I had a complete thryoidectomy in September and while still on the low end of the hormone balance, I feel worse now than I did when I was clearly hypothyroid.

The pdoc has been messing with my Celexa dose because he thought maybe it was working too well but I don't see any improvement. I am having my T3 tested on Monday to rule out that but I'm so sure it's the Tegretol.

I wish I could still take Lamictal.
