I've been on and off a long list of psychiatric meds....now having high bp and what they call inconsisitent or blood sugar levels that seemingly have nothing to do with what I eat or don't eat.....

Now they are putting me on an ACE bp medication that deals with bp in the kidney too. NO, I don't understand it all....have others also had these types of problems?

Thanks for any input,
WB

Never with blood pressure but yes with blood sugar. I took Nardil and my blood sugar levels spiked from 80 to 136 in 2 months. I had gained 10 lbs in one month so my GP thought it was due to the rapid weight gain. I switched from Nardil to Parnate and my glucose level went back down to 85, but I gained 10 more pounds! My doctor said she had never seen that happen before and attributed it to the Nardil, and said she'd prefer I never go back to Nardil again.

Since then I've been on other meds including the SSRIs and my blood sugar is always normal , even when there is weight gain.

I have heard some people do have issues with glucose levels on some SSRIs, so it's worth investigating further, IMHO.

Anti-psychotics can mess with blood sugar. Not sure about blood pressure.
