i just started taking medication 4 weeks ago. since then i sometimes wake suddenly without warning. it happens in an instant. is it possible its a side effect somehow. its never happened before. (its not a falling dream. ive had those.) the last time it happened twice in the same night. i worry about it happening each night.

I have that most nights. I've just gotten used to it. I definitely believe it is a side effect of one of the medications I'm on. Not sure which one.

That's normal. Unless you wake up like 10-20 times a night then its a problem and you would need a strong sleeping medication

I had the problem on Lamictal which is why I asked. I also had these visions of spiders on the ceiling. Not quite hallucinations. There's a diff name for it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I have the jolt thing in my sleep. The first time I actually hurt myself in that the jolt was so strong. It was not a serious hurt like breaking a leg. It was like my body tried to throw itself across the bed or like I kicked a soccer ball with a force I could not regularly muster and missed. Limbs hurting from the force if that makes sense. Actually thought I would have hurt someone if they were in the bed with me at that time.
Second time I jumped up, jerked hard like someone came behind me and really scared me. Limbs kicking in the air and jerking up to a sitting position. I have never had these things happen. I'm on Lexapro and lamictal. It's weird Pdoc said keep an eye to monitor the frequency and problems it may cause me. |

I'm sure it's the meds. I had a brain zap wake me up once, another time I woke up my right arm was shaking like a seizure, usually I wake up and it felt like some one shook me, or tapped me.
