When I'm manic, I take sonata to make sure I get at least a little sleep. I take 10 mg capsules. Used to take 4 capsules to get to sleep. Doc says I should stick with two, but that doesn't put me to sleep. What happens if you take more?

I know I get hallucinations when I take higher doses, but I also, finally, get to sleep. I don't want to take too much if it's going have any bad effects. How much can I take to get me to sleep before I need to start worrying? Can I bump up my usual 4 to 5 or 6?

I've been taking Sonata fairly regularly for about 3 years now. I'm willing to try it, just don't want to do anything stupid if it's going to have nasty side effects. No nasty effects so far at 40mg, just wondering what 50 or 60 mg would do.

BTW, I've tried many, many, many other sleeping pills and this is the only one that actually gets me 4 or 5 hours of sleep when I'm wired like this.

Anyone know what the top dose is on sonata? I don't mind the hallucinations if that's the only side effect. Any expert opinions out there?
