Hi. I hoping someone here can clear up some confusion for me. I have very recently been "officially" diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. My doctor prescribed Wellbutrin 150 mg twice a day. He also prescribed Flexeril (5 mg at bedtime) for muscle spasms I am having due to recent back injury.
I'm such a newbie to all this and have rarely in my life taken anything much stronger than ibuprofen. I looked up drug interactions to see if I could take ibuprofen with these new prescriptions and was shocked to see a big red warning about taking the Wellbutrin and Flexeril together because of possible seizures. ???? I checked four different drug interaction sites and only one of the four (Walgreens) said there were no interactions between these drugs. The other three had the big red warnings. Now I am afraid to take the Flexeril and am really suffering with the muscle spasms in my back. Does anyone know if this is really a dangerous combo or am I just being overly worried? |

I take Wellbutrin and a different anxiety medication three times a day and have no problem. From what I hear Wellbutrin and Flexeril together will not be a problem and they are often combined. You may see warning like that because like any medications that are mixed there is always some very small rare risk something could happen, but if your doctor prescribed this to you there shouldn't be a problem.

Thank you for the response. I'm sure I sound really silly, but I am really nervous about taking medications.
Yes, my doctor also prescribed an anxiety med to go along with the Wellbutrin. I didn't take that at first either, but about the 3rd day on the Wellbutrin, I found myself snapping at my poor hubby for no reason. Shocked him and me. That's when I started reading the forums and learned WHY he prescribed the anxiety medication. That one is scored, so I am only taking half a dose at a time, just to be safe. I guess being so paranoid about medication, I should refrain from using those "is this drug safe" sites online and just try to trust my doctor a bit more. Thanks again for responding to my post. I appreciate it. |

Your welcome. It isn't silly. It is smart to be informed and research what you put in your body.
