When I first got on meds my doctor prescribed Zoloft. I kept getting anxiety attacks on it so he changed it to Pristiq. I've been on it for almost three years now. About two years ago there was an insurance issue and switched to Effexor XR. That was the worst week ever. I was crying constantly and felt horrible. I had to beg to get Pristiq back because it worked for me. Now that I've been on Pristiq for a while, I feel like it's not working anymore. My self-esteem and motivation have gone out the window and I can barely cope with some things going that really could be dealt with better. I cry almost every day. I was considering asking my doctor to change my meds, or upping the dosage. I am on 50mg, the lowest dose I think. Should I change my meds? What are your experiences with Pristiq?

Falls~ I am having the same problem with the Pristiq after a year of use. It STOPPED!!!i am all that you described as coditions now and I gained 40+ pounds! I was thinking maybe I should try Cymbalta. I go back this week and I do not want to be on a class C anymore. But I do have chronic pain. So I am really lost. I would also appreciate some feedback. Take care

I gained weight too but I'm not sure if it's the Pristiq or not. I don't know much about other antidepressants so I guess I'll do some research. I hate having to switch meds because I get really bad withdrawal symptoms. :/

I had been on Effexor for 10 yrs when it stopped working. I switched to Pristiq and was on 200mg for 2+ yrs. When it wasn't enough my pdoc added Abilify (5mg).

There are lots of options when your meds aren't working so don't give up!

PS (off abilify and down to 150mg ...things are looking up)
Thanks for this!

I had landed in the PW this week because of this the psychiatrist there added a mood stabilizer Topamax and it has helped and it suppose to help me lose weight. We did not chang the Pristiq...which I was feeling like I have been going threw withdrawal but still taking the pills. The Topamax also help's my constant migraines. I go back to my psychiatrist in a few weeks so I will see what he has to say about all this.
Thanks for this!

My psychiatrist raised my Pristiq. I guess he got the word! Now this is hell after a 2 month which I believe withdrawal to start all over. Sleep has been bad amongst other things from before the new raise. I am on day 2 of the higher MG's and I shall see when it gets in my blood what has yet to come.

I was on 100mg of Pristiq per day but it wasn't working well. I've been decreasing off of it (have one more dose of it on Sunday) and I have started on Cymbalta. I think I am finally done with the physical withdrawal issues. I hope this one works. I would love to feel stable finally...
