Just as the title says - is it feeling hungrier and more cravings that causes it or is it metabolic in nature or maybe a bit of both? Or do they even know why?

Edit: I've been looking at several webpages that "answer" this but can't seem to find anything that is consistent.

Both. Glucose dysregulation and interfering with proteins the brain uses as signals for hunger.

Ask your own doc but my doc said absolutely no fast carbs on those meds and also restricted carbs for the rest since the metabolism of protein is normal and for fat next to normal but the metabolism of carb is not.

Wish my doctor had told me this... I have gained 5 kg since being on Abilify.

When I was on a daily dosage of Abilify, I noticed weight gain of 5 pounds and I also couldn't walk my normal pace on the treadmills at the gym. Weird! I normally walk about 4.3 - 4.5 mph, but on my daily dosage, I couldn't walk faster than 3.7 & I was trying hard!

I got my dosage lowered to once/week and that helped a lot! I've just gotten an increase to twice/week though, so I am feeling a bit anxious about it. I do not want to gain any weight unless it's due to muscular growth.

Maybe that's because of it's sedative side effects? Just a thought, not that I have any idea about what I'm talking about

I hear you though, muscular growth is definitely a good kind of weight gain. Hope all goes well for you!
