Well I was on prozac 20mg once a day for about 5 months, and it worked but I was starting to feel a little depressed but not bad, the prozac still worked. I just had bad days. So I went to my psych doc and he decided to up my prozac to 40mg a day, however ever since the change I have plummeted into a severe depression, with suicidal thoughts.

Is it possible that the higher dosage of prozac somehow made me worse? I can't even get out of bed now, I barely shower, I don't care about anything.

I cant do 40 mg. And especially just doubling it like that. I have to work my way up to 30 by alternating 20 and 30 days for at least a few weeks. Is this a male pdoc? Grrr. The kind that made all us women havd yearlh mammograms and now they say, oh doesnt make a difference?? Like to put THEIR bits in a vise. Sorry to rant. Yes i think its possible. My head feels cold at 40 mg. Its weird. Do you have 10 mg caps or can you split the pills? If its a 40 mg capsule you can dissolve it in half a cup of water and only drink part and save the rest, thats what my pdoc told me.

I did 40mg odd days , but 20mg was always the sweet spot . 30 years ago 20mg was max for Prozac , now there doing 60 mg for OCD it killed my OCD at 20MG I didn't even know it was a illness then just thought it part of depression.,

That's scary for me they just raised my Prozac from 40 to 60mg. I haven't started the 60 yet since he just raised it yesterday and I haven't filled my prescription. So far it has been helping my depression, so I hope I have better luck with it than the rest of you. Thanks for the input.

I see tramadol in your meds is that for pain or sleep, I cannot take it with ADs for some reason, it gave me serotonin syndrome . I think it can react to ADS in far less serious effect in some , so it may be worth asking your doc if you had trouble since starting it , if not forget it

No I can't fiddle with my meds by cutting it in half due to the group home I live in, they are very strict on meds. And will only allow you to do so under strict doctor orders

Thanks sewerrats. I don't take it often anymore, just occaisionally, so it hasn't bothered me yet. I try not to take it unless the pain is bad considering I know it can cause problems with my other meds. I took hydrocone with my meds and wound up halucinating, so I don't want a repeat of that Thanks for your concern.

Really, yours is beads? Prozac for me is a fine powder. I know this because I dump portions of the capsule out to taper. I wish it was beads; they're way easier to weigh and thus reduce methodically.

Sorry bro. I always err on the side of medications being worse for you than not unless they are really necessary or clearly beneficial. Unless you feel a lot better, they aren't worth it. That's my experienced opinion. I've found good vitamins and nutrition help more for me.

Sorry you are feeling like this.
When will you see your psych doc again? Maybe the place where you are staying can contact him and ask for a review? Have you told them how you are feeling?
Hope you get this sorted and start feeling better soon.

It's a mental health Group home. Apparently people think I'm not mentally well enough to live on my own and they are right.
