I had the flu this week and have been taking robitussin for my cough.

By today I started feeling kind of high and manicky. Restless and too happy/

I looked online and found that Robitussin can have an interaction with antidepressants. I had no idea!

Has anyone else had this happen?

I haven't had it happen, but I know we can't take most cold/flu medications while on anti-depressants/anti-anxiety. I can take Mucinex, but anything else needs to be prescribed by my GP.

It is because of Robitussin. I'm sure about it. I felt the same way but my psychiatrist didn't believe it's because of cough medicine. But it is!
I even didn't take any antidepresants when it happened to me but if you are taking Effexor maybe it's dangerous to take Robitussin. I really don't know.
Of course feeling that way was cool but when it ended with anxiety, fears and insomnia I regret I even started to take this med.
It (I mean Robitussin) makes some people manicky. I thought it's soooo great but now I don't think so.
Talk about it to your doctor.

There are many other cough remedies than Robitussin. Make sure you get the type you need i.e. a suppressant or an expectorant or a combination... the last one doesn't make sense when you think about it

Do you have unproductive cough? Why are you on Robitussin?
All cough medicine for unproductive cough have effect to brains...
I'm on cough meds for two mounths.
Codeine for me is better, it makes me calm not hyperactive or anxious but it's addictive...
But I think it's not right to listen to other experience, everyone's brains are different.

There is an ingredient in many cold/flu medications that interacts with anti-depressants/antii-anxiety. I always ask the pharmacist.
