I've been on both but am taking Clonazepam right now. Both have been rxed at .5 mg. I took one Clnazepam about 2 hrs ago and nothing... Would it be alright to take another?? I have a few things I'd like to get accomplished today and don't want to fight the sleepies. Clonazepam vs Xanax

I've been rx'ed .5mg too, Tomi and one never does a thing for me. I don't think a second one would make you sleepy, but any more than that would. I've taken up to 4 and boy does that mess a person up.

Take care.

Hi there,
I think people should take their medication AS PRESCRIBED! Always, no exceptions. Just my two cents' worth.
Take care,
Okie

I couldn't deal so I took the second Klonopin. It was okay as long as we were out and busy. Now that I'm home, I'm sleepy and somewhat dizzy. That could be from the energy expended in trying to control the anxiety.

Now I just want to go to bed and only DREAM of Christmas but not wake up till mid January... Clonazepam vs Xanax

The difference between the 2 benzos is that xanax acts quicker and therefore you would feel more of an immediate response than the klonipin...which has a more sustain response and lasts in the system longer. Valium lasts in your system that longest of all the benzos.
Hopefully we will all survive the holidays unscathed!

That's for sure that Xanax acts quicker! When I was on it before, the relief was almost immediate! I could take four .5 mg tablets when I was on them and I can do the same thing with Klonopin.

Sure will be glad to get all this mess straightened out on Tues when I see my Dr!! I thought those days were over!! Clonazepam vs Xanax

I take 2mg/day; more, if needed. I usually take it in the morning (with all my other stuff), and it seems to be rather long lasting, as I tend not to need another as the day progresses. The only occasion I need to take more (never 2 at a time; only another dose if I am seriously triggered). I would not hesitate to take 2 at a time, though, if there were an occassion that needed it.

Clonaz does not make me sleepy, though (rats!), as it seems to with alot of people I know.

This is a high dose compared to most, but it does double duty - it calms my nerves and prevents stomach spasms.

It takes time to enter your system, like most other drugs, and I think there is a build-up effect over time, but not totally sure (may want to check this out).

I find it to be very effective in controlling my anxiety.

The strangest thing is, I am only 120lbs, but have 2 friends (guys - both 200lbs+) who take .5mg and 1mg and it knocks them out!

Been on Clonzepam / Klonopin for a year, I take 2-3mg a day.

.5 is a small dose, I believe seizure sufferers take upwards of 8-12mg.

Anyhow, 2mg doesnt make me sleepy, doesnt hit me and do anything direct, and as stated has a long life span and stays in your blood 24+ hours. If you take an extra one, although obviously not directed. (it can become an addictive med) It wont do much to you except possibly add some dizzyness and tiredness. I find going from 2-3mg on "bad" anxiety days tends to make driving more hazardus (I tend to nod off) other then that I dont notice anything else negative.

I have a friend who will down 6-8 mg when he feels like an attack is coming. I always warn him not to, and that its stupid to jump your dosage like that but he does it anyway. But nothing happens to him, other then being a little out of it. So anyhow my entire point is taking and extra .5 although not reccomended since you just have your doc tell you to take the extra, probley wont do anything bad to you.

My old prescription says I can take one twice a day. I've taken three today and I can feel a sleepy effect, but not enough to nod off. That's probably because it's been a while. Right after I took the third, I nodded off at the computer. Clonazepam vs Xanax LOL Reminded me of my first pregnancy. Lordy, that was awful!! And my boss had the gall to tell me not to get pregnant... and here I sat almost in front of her nodding off. LOL Yeah, I got fired! I was glad 'cause I got to stay home and sleep whenever I felt like it. Clonazepam vs Xanax
