I am on 300mg of topamax daily (for anxiety) and it has ruined taste for me in a lot of ways but what has been really strange is I know how a very strange sense of smell, and not for good things, for example, if I use bleach to clean, I can smell bleach forever and it has a terrible stench (it never goes away), and another example would be if I lit a candle instead of smelling a nice scent I would just smell wax not the actually nice scent, so I basically just smell some strong things and not many good things anymore. This is getting a little intense, but the medication works well, however like I said it is intense and effecting my everyday life.
I have been on 6 antidepressants/anti anxieties over the last 8 or so months and finally this one seems to be helping so I would hate to quit but it also gives a strange taste in my mouth because of these strange smells. Might I also mention, that I was helping a friend clean out her house and she had some mold and that mold smell was so intense for me, but she did not smell anything at all? Why can I smell things like this but others cannot? Thanks

I'm on 400 mg it has stabalized my moods for bipolar 1 it's great, I have lost lots of weight . It has killed taste in beverages with fizz, also slowed down my thinking skills, but I will not give it up, I switched from lithium.
As for the sense of smell Am sensitive even before topomax. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
