I started taking trazadone to help me sleep and to fall asleep. Sometimes I have a hard time falling asleep. I've never had a sleep study done so this is pure speculation but without trazadone I dont believe I got into REM or at least not for very long. I can sleep 10 hours and still be tired. Last night I slept for 15 hours and today I don't feel tired but I slept for so long. When I first started taking trazadone I had nightmares randomly and I didnt link it to the drug. Now I have nightmares every night sometimes even when I dont take trazadone. I have the nightmares when I go into REM. A few years ago when I didnt have sleeping problems other than sleeping alot I never dreamed or had nightmares.

It did the same for me when I tried taking it the first time...the second time it just didn't work at all!

It would help if you would tell us all the meds you are taking. I have had a lot of sleep issues with AD's over the years.

I have taken trazadone on and off over the years for sleep. It would always knock me out right away but usually only work for 4 to 6 hours and then my SSRI SSNRI sleep issues would kick in again. Same thing right now with remeron for sleep.

I have never had any nightmares with trazadone or remeron. All my sleep issues have had to do with SSRI's and SSNRI's and not getting enough deep stage 4 and 5 sleep. I dream to much. Here is the pattern....the remeron gives me a good four hours of good sleep. Then I wake up. I have to get up for awhile before I can go back to sleep. Go back to sleep and dream like crazy for two hours. Wake up go smoke half a cig, go back to sleep and dream like crazy. This goes on until I just can't sleep any more. Don't get enough deep sleep so to tired the next day. Have to take a nap in the afternoon.

If I am deeply deeply depressed the same pattern happens but I can sleep all day long like a baby in the day time.

Melatonin can help. I am experimenting with that.

Thats alot of meds. I don't think lamactil would do it, I don't think the wellbutrin would do it, not the xanax. The others i have no idea. No experience with them and three I have never heard of. definitely meds can mess up sleep patterns and dreaming.

You probably dreamed but just didn't remember them.

I recently had them real bad for about a week. i don't know what caused them. They went away. I know how horrible it can be. And you wake up with all this anxiey....not fun.

I have been dreaming a ton about work. Not really night mares but my dreams are often very frustrating. Like going to school in your underwear or really trying to say something and you can barely speak.

i think all the dream about work are me processing letting go of work. I have worked my whole life but in the past year and a half have been unable to work. I have applied for social security disability. Every night I dream about work.

There is a section on sleep issues and dreaming on these forums. Have you posted in there? I think there is even someone who will interpret your dreams.
