Okay, so my p'doc tells me that Lovan will help me to lose weight as well as help with my depression. So I googled Lovan and got information that in the long term Lovan can cause weight gain.

Can you please share your experience with me? Will I gain weight or lose it?

I have not gained weight, not lost weight either. I'm never hungry though, but I think I was the same before the med so it is probably more the way I am than the med. If someone self medicates with food and feels better they might lose weight. Or can be more active because of less depression and then lose weight. That is what I can think of because the way I understand it Luvox is fairly weight neutral and in the cases it caused weight gain it is just a few pounds.

But then again we're all different. The eating less is actually listed as a common side effect but since I have a chaotic relation to food I can't say if I am affected since I have very strong tendencies in myself to be very neutral to food and forgetting to eat.

Note that if you take benzos you might have to lower them a little due to a slight interaction. It also have a quite severe interaction with caffeine, so if you drink coffee or tea it is wise to cut the consumption in half not to get the jitters.

I agree with Jimi. I've been on Luvox (Fluoexetine) a number of times in the past, one period I was taking it for about 5-6 years. Mostly, I lost a few pounds in the first few weeks, then gained them again as I started to feel better. Longer term, I ended up weighing a few pounds less at the end of my time on the drug, but my weight yo-yos quite a lot. If you're worried and have the scope in your diet to cut out a few snacks or drinks then see it as an opportunity to eat more healthily.

I started on 20 mg and now 40mg will probably go up to 60mg in a couple of weeks. I am on 4mg of Klonolpin and 100mg of Seroquel at night. I want to come off the Klonolpin after I have been on Lovan for at least a month.

I am such a couch potato. I gotta get some activity into my life.

I'm like... woops here.

Lovan sounded so much like Luvox that I assumed..... grr.... Stupid brain.

Lovan is NOT the same as Luvox.... sorriez. Lovan is the same as Prozac.

Prozac made me a little jittery so because of that I had a hard time eating at first. But when the jitters wore off I could eat normally. No weight gain no weight loss for me, but that one I only took for 6 months or something.

It does depend on what your relationship with food is before starting. 20 mg is weight neutral for me. But at higher doses I feel more hungry. I also feel less anxious and less obsessed with everything I eat, so I eat more. But that is the medication doing its job I guess and not really a side effect.

Its okay Jimi. I'm still climbing the Lovan ladder. My hands aren't so steady anymore. I wonder if things will change 20mg up.
