.
If you have no response or worsening (hard to tell?) on the starting dose of a anti-depressant for 2.5 weeks, does that mean that it won't work at a higher dose?. |

AD's can take 4-6 weeks to really start working initially. It probably hasn't even begun to kick in yet.

For whatever reason I respond quickly to ADs so I am not a good judge of this but I have been told it does take from 2-6 weeks to really know if it works. Give it some time.
What are you taking and at what dose? Some ADs have an initial dose that you're supposed to increase rather quickly. Like Fetzima, you're supposed to take 20mg for two days then increase to 40mg.

Definitely give it some time, if you possibly can. And no, this doesn't not mean the AD won't work at a higher dose. If your symptoms are continually worsening your AD dose could be too high. If you can, give it another week and see where you're at. Good luck - I know how difficult the AD dosing can be.
