Hi guys,

I just started Lexapro. I didn't know when to take it, and I guess a part of me wanted instant relief, so I just popped it like two minutes ago. (the time is now 8:21 PM).

What time should I take my Lexapro?

Thanks!

When I was on it I took it with my night meds. I take them at 9:00. A little bit before I try to go to bed. It's going to take some time before you notice it working.

Didn't the doc tell you when to take it? I don't think it matters when you take it unless it make you very tired or something.

You are not going to get any instant relief from it. It is slow acting. You have to give it 4 to 6 weeks to see what side effects you get and if you get over the side effect and to see how effective it is. Sorry no instant relief in the AD game, that is just how it is.

Agreed. Some ADs can act sooner, but 1-3 months is the general ballpark.

Apparently for some people they act very quickly. I must say the Fetzima I am currently taking starting working in the second week.

The key is though to give it enough time to see if you are gonna get over the side effects. Unless they are totally unbearable.

I was just prescribed 10 mg of lexapro in addition to the 150 mg of bupropion that I have been taking daily. Has anyone else had this combination of drugs? How did it work for you?

My doctor was equally vague as to when I should take my Lexapro. I started on the same day as you, but I took it in the morning. I've noticed that I'm having terrible insomnia and the most bizarre, horrifying dreams. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Should I expect these side effects to level off after I adjust to the meds? I'm at 10 mg. Also taking Vyvanse.

My doctor said to take Lexapro either am or PM. If it makes you drowsy take it in the PM. She did say to take it with food. I am sensitive to many foods, and she felt the GI issues might be the worst side effect for me. So, I started after dinner on the 11th. So far so good as far as side effects go, just at low grade headache mainly. Now it's just waiting to see if it works.

I have not taken Lexapro, but did have increased nightmares and insomnia with the Vyvanse.

My dad takes Lexapro, and his docs were vague too about when to take it. He found he was drowsy when he took it in the morning so he takes it at night and it has worked out much better now.
