What med are you taking/stopping? Some need to be taken continually for the best effect; some are actually dangerous to stop or suddenly reduce significantly. Is there any way you can call your dr and get your prescription renewed ahead of your appointment?

He can refill it for the time in between. He shouldn't let you go cold turkey. The pharmacy may also spot you over the weekend. They take that thing rather seriously.

Why can't you get refills? Not good to miss doses.

It doesn't matter. You can still get a refill and it would be irresponsible not to refill it until you have an appointment. The pharmacy will give you some for the weekend.

Edit... Just have the pharmacy call for a refill.

I'm told by my doctor that it is not good to just stop taking it. You have to be weened off.

Where do you live?

In the US it is common practice that when you run out of refills you call in to the Pharmacy for a refill. They tell you you are out of refills and will have to call your doctor. Within a day you have a new set of refills. No appointment needed. The only inconvenience it causes if that it takes a little longer for them to get a hold of the doctor and for the doctor to get back to them. If it is an emergency the pharmacy will usually give you a partial refill until the doctor calls them back.

Yay! I'm glad to hear they helped you. Some docs do write a limited refill series so you come in but they would never leave you high and dry.

Don't skip a dose. You could end up with bad withdrawal symptoms, which if you plan on continuing the medication would be for nothing.
