You're probably going to feel the need for a nap pretty soon. 5mg is a lot to take at one time! Is that dose prescribed to you?

How long ago did you take them? And have you took benzodiazepines in the past. Info?
BTW I say cut it all now. I am not a pdoc but 4mg is usually the highest dose for klonopin/clonazepam. You should be okay. Do NOT drink on that! CNS depression and other dangers No other hypnotics or otc antihistamines.
Why did you take 5mg's? It takes up to 45 or so minutes for them to have the anti-anxiety effect. Thats why I ask if you use some sort of GABA1a inhibitors for anxiety?

I slept to 1pm the next day, I was talkative and I think the anxiety was gone.

I was going to ask about Kolonapin. My therapist has asked my primary care doc to prescribe it. If I take it during the day will I be able to do things or will I be a sleeping drooling mess?

It depends on how much you take and how often you take it.

I used to be out cold all the time if I took 1mg, so I split those into halves and quarters and took those.

Now, depending on my anxiety levels, .25mg is often still enough to take the edge off without impairing my functioning at all, but if I'm really off I can take 1mg and still function, but I reserve taking that much for only the worst cases because it does bring me down and a lot and can impair my functioning. I usually end up napping after taking a full mg.

I have also learned though how to know if I need klonopin or if I can take Seroquel. Being able to differentiate my anxiety has made me able to use the klonopin less.
Thanks for this!

I got a script for .50mg........knocked me out and felt lethargic the next day. Damn....afraid to split it and even try .25mg. I need to function and get things done. I guess I was hoping for a magic pill that would keep my anxiety and excessive catastrophizing thoughts at bay.

.5-1 mg a day is a pretty low dose, so you probably wouldn't feel the more intense side effects. You may be especially sensitive to medications.
Clonazepam being a benzodiazepine can make people tired but ideally relaxed for anxiety disorders. Initially you may feel tired but as the benzos. are notorious for; Tolerance can build quickly. That is why most pdocs only use them prn or for a very short duration as tolerance and addiction issues are very common. 4 mg of klonopin is usually the ceiling, when prescribed and is usually only used for severe social anxiety and agoraphobia. Though with the most severe of the anxiety spectrum's doses may be higher for true agoraphobics. To answer the question, your brain will adapt and the tiredness will subside. Just be careful with the benzos. as withdrawal can be brutal.. If you are on a moderate amount daily. If it is not done correctly, ie. slowly reducing the dose and the amount you are on!

As for the original thread, 5 mg is usually never Rx'ed unless it is severe agor. Unless you have been on benzos. for a long time and developed tolerance. Then, yeah 5 mgs of Clonazepam will probably knock you out. I don't see why a pdoc or doc would prescribe you such a large dose? That would be verging on malpractice . I assume you just took the amount you chose!

I built a massive tolerance in no time, and xanax is the most addictive benzo from what I've read.

How do you become addicted to this? I've only filled my 30 day pills 2 times this year with like 7 more refills to go.

DO i need to take them every day? will I get high?? When I took 5mg my memory was foggy.

Your doc gave you 7 refills???? I get 2 refills and the original script every 3 months. In fact, I believe that is the recommended way to write that script due to its addictiveness.

You become addictive to it just like you would any other addictive thing. You need to take them as prescribed. My script is for me to take 1mg every night at bedtime. It is different for everyone. If you take too much you can have a "high" and also it can be considered an overdose. You also increase the tolerance your body has when you take more than recommended. I hope this helps.
