I just started effexor 37.5 mg last Monday and I'm absolutely exhausted. I can't get through the day without taking a few hour nap. However I know depression can cause fatigue as well as hypothyroid which I have both. Anyone experience severe exhaustion on this med?

No, it had the opposite effect on me. Sorry, I'm no help.

150mg a day, but I've been on a few years already. It doesn't help that my sleep patterns are at a later than normal cycle because I work evenings. I am wide awake at night (right now it's 1:25 am.) |

I find it activating enough that I take it in the morning. Maybe switching the time that you take it will help. A lot of people take it at night. If you think it really is the med call your doctor to find out if changing your timing might help.
If you are coming out of a really rough patch you might just be tired. In the past it has been like my brain has to glue itself back together after a BP flareup. Moving through a mood episode can be exhausting. |

Effexor (150 mg) interrupted my sleep. I was on it for about 2 months, but discontinued due to the lack of any good night's sleep during those months. Good luck with the medication.

I am on 75 mg Effexor and yes, I was very tired and low energy, up until the last couple of days. I think however in my case it is less a product of the Effexor than of the depression in general. Yesterday and today my energy has been better. I am crossing my fingers that this is my mood starting to get better.
I think it is too soon to determine what it is...are you sleeping ok at night? And thyroid issues have a huge effect on energy levels. I hope you are getting that checked out too. |

Thanks for your replies. I called the nurse yesterday, and the pdoc wants me to discontinue the Effexor. I'm supposed to make an appointment with him to be seen to get a med change. Not sure how long that will be, so I'm going to stay on it until I can switch right over. I'm also going to call my pcp tomorrow to get my thyroid levels checked to rule out that.

Hey friends,
I take Effexor 225mg....it has been my best anti-depressant thus far, and I know I have been on at least 8 or 9. I do not feel any less energy due to it, but bear in mind....depression robs us of our energy!!! It truly does, for me anyway. Message me anytime ![]() |

I have been on 450 of Effexor for months now. I am completely exhausted, mentally, physically, and emotionally. I can't take it anymore. I've had issues with fatigue before the medicine, but it just recently has gotten really bad. Doctors have run some tests, including thyroid, but nothing has come up. Going to talk to my doc about lowering my dose to see if it makes a big difference.
