Well I haven't actually been diagnosed yet but I am on 225 mg of effexor and 150 mg of lamictal. I'm not really sure they're helping all that much unfortunately. I'm just starting therapy again though, so hopefully that will help. One observation I've made with lamictal is that I burn incredibly easy now from the sun.

I think I would want a mood stabilizer before an AP

I've tried all the AP's and none do any good. Abilify helped a little but I couldn't afford it. The only relief I've had in the depression is from Prozac and it just keep my head above water and me out of the hospital.

That depends on what your main problems are.

But I would try from the mildest. APs may "act like moodstabilizer", but they have side effects like APs (and are harsher on your body).

lumactil is good for depressive phase of bipolar, where Depakote is good for mania part of bipolar. I take gabapentin and it is not all that great. I got to face it I got a stupid pdoc for sure.

I live just outside the city and getting docs around my area is to hard I got a choice of 20 but all are either quacks, long waiting list or just plain stupid. I hate dr I think I know after a few decades of going to shrinks I know what will work and what wont. iam no dr though but I sometimes wonder where they get there degrees.
