I have been taking 300mg of seroquel as a mood stabiliser for about ten months and I have always slept all night until the alarm goes off in the morning.

For the last week I have started to wake up 5 - 6 times a night. I am wondering has anyone experienced this? Is it a normal thing to happen after this period of time? Or what other experiences have you had with seroquel and sleep?

My step dad takes that for sleep. It seems to work well for him.
Has anything major happened in your life that may interrupt your sleep patterns?
Maybe the drug has become ineffective. Talk to your doctor about possibly
changing to something else. I take Trazadone, and it works great.

I take seroquel and find it knocks me right out. Ironically I find it actually makes me drowsier at lower doses. I currently take 50mg in the morning and at noon, and 200 mg at night. I have no trouble falling asleep and I generally sleep through the night, unless I've drunk too much water before bed and have to get up to go to the washroom. My biggest problem is I have to take the seroquel at night early enough for me to get a solid 8 or 9 hours sleep - otherwise I'm really groggy the next morning, and have what I call a seroquel hangover.

So I suspect that something else may be going on that's affecting your sleep.

He/she is not using it specifically for sleep. He/she is chiefly using it as a mood stabilizer. This is something you need to talk to your doc. or pdoc about. Give a call to your doc or pdoc, if you feel it is really affecting you and you don't have an appointment soon. Then you can ask.
I did a quick check on the drug interaction site with trazodone.

This is the site . That you can use:

For me, Seroquel made me tired in the beginning, but hasn't for months, and I've been at 300 mg since autumn. I have to take Remeron (15 mg each night) to help with sleep-it helps some, but I still find that I'm not getting the rest I need.

I used to take seroquel awhile back for bi-polar. It helped tremendously. But the downfall to it was a super hangover effect of being drowsy. Even after sleeping for 14+ hours. I had to discontinue taking the medication due to a rise in my blood sugar as a side effect. I am type 2 diabetic. Nowadays, I struggle with a very unsual sleeping problem and have not been able to find any sleeping medication that could even make me drowsy or keep me asleep. I'm really tempted to search my house for the extra seroquel that my mom hid somewhere after I was taken off of it. I would really like to see if it could keep my asleep and make me drowsy. But I know for a fact the interaction of that drug with the other medications that I am currently taking could pose a big threat to my health.

I actually take 300mg for sleep, but don't wake up thankfully! It's the only med that's worked for insomnia in years. You might see about taking it with Sonota, Trazodone, Neurontin or even a muscle relaxer like Flexerall...good luck!
