So my doctor had told me to take 1 100mg tablet every morning for a week. Then take 2 100mg tablets for 1 week. Assuming that went well, she wanted me to then take a 300mg tablet. In the past, I have not responded well to high doses of any antidepressant so I was wondering what the lowest dose I could possibly be on is, even is it is not recommended or is sub-clinical. The 100mg tablets I have are SR and the 300mg are XL if that helps answer.

Also, how long in your experience has it taken to feel better on the med? I've taken it twice at 100mg, and the first day I felt a side effect of being jittery, but other than that, I don't have many other side effects yet.

Also (also!), I tend to suffer from some anxiety and OCD as well. I was reluctant to take Wellbutrin because I wasn't sure if it would make it worse. I would really like it to help me stop fixating on certain things that happen since that causes me distress, but I'm not sure if this will. In the past, I know ssri/ni has helped me with that, but it also hurt me so that's a big trade-off there. Hoping W will help...

The lowest therapeutic dose, that I usually hear of is 150 mg. Though it is possible 100 may work for you. I know they have the 150 mg in xl. I am not sure but I suspect the may have the 100 mg in xl form to. That would stop the jitteriness of taking a non-xl form. Which I have had to do in the past and the instant release was just too much. I don't know if you are taking other meds but many times other meds will have an effect making another med more therapeutic at a lower dose. It looks like 75 mg is the the lowest pill but that is an awfully small dose. Some people have good results with 150 mg xl.
As always talk to your doc. or pdoc about this issue. You can always bring in print outs to share with them.

This is what I wanted to know so thank you. The SR is the immediate release and XL is the sustained, or do I have that backward?

I think my doctor told me when she prescribed it that I would have to go to 300mg, which is why I wanted to know if a lower dose was available at all.

Also, I have been noticing lapse in memory, specifically in procedural memory, like forgetting which sink is hot or cold or the code for something at work. I Googled it so I know it is a common side effect, but I'm hoping it will go away because it is quite annoying.

Never mind, I think this was a bad med for me anyway since it made me feel very, very anxious and overly excitable after taking it a few times so I stopped anyway. I just want it to leave my system now...

Is it possible to experience withdrawal symptoms even if I only took the med three times? Cuz right now I am dizzy and agitated.

Hey, 75mg of Buproprion IR is the smallest it comes, or 100mg SR. I'd only take it in the SR form or better yet Aplenzin since it increases energy and suppresses the appetite. Best of luck! I like Aplenzin, but typically at a low dose since it causes a little irritability...I never take it alone, but typically with another AD especially for SAD. My favorite AD is Fetzima, Luvox CR and Nefazodone if you want other very effective ADs.
