Probably the best modd stabilizer for depression is Lamictal. I would avoid Depakote unless you have a bipolar depression. Have you tried Emsam?

Lamictal is excellent for this, I found Depakote useless for my former, severe depression,Depakote really is more for mania, packing a wallop to agitated states.
Celexa had to be added to my combo while using Depakote, present pdoc had me switch after the Depakote was knocking me out so much, falling asleep at the wheel twice, which happened nearly 6 yrs ago.
That's all behind me,all I take is 200mgs per day of Lamictal. People respond differently,so it's always best to work closely with the prescribing physician.
Keep the faith, things that seem impossible can be come possible. mood stablizers for depression

My son took Lamictal with Zoloft and Wellbutrin XL. It (Lamictal) made a huge difference.

Emsam is a new MAOI patch for depression. A friend of mine who has severe depression has tried every med under the sun and just started Emsam two weeks ago and his depression has lifted for the first time in years. It is a miracle drug for him!

I take Trileptal 600 MG split into 2 doses. They think I may have Bipolar II but they are giving me this instead of anti-depressants. It does help somewhat.
