Hi

May I ask what sleep meds you are taking? I may be going on abilify.

Thanks so much.

I was very restless on it and stopped taking it . Plus it it a big one for causing increased blood sugar and weight gain for many people.

I took it for a year without any side effects. They are very worried about the sugar thing now.

I have heard more bad than good from patient's reviews all over the internet. I may not want to try abilify just yet!

Hmm. I guess we all have different experiences on meds. For me a super low dose helps with my irritability and anger. I had no side effects of anxiety and a larger dose made me feel flat and excruciatingly bored. No new weight gain from it.

I took it for a short period of time, during which I totally lost it and tried to commit suicide. I ended up in inpatient, no harm done, thanks to my husband. Still, I am not sure if that episode had anything to do with Abilify. I was headed that way, regardless.

I have two anxiety disorders, but the abilify definitely made it worse. It's a good drug if you can tolerate the drowsiness.

No but it's possible and rare...I'm not a big fan of Abilify unless you're using it to augment your anti-depressant at 2.5mg-5mg, but there's way better AAP's than Abilify. Latuda especially and Geodon...for me it's all about finding the right dose. Btw Latuda and Geodon are the only two weight neutral AAPs. Best of luck!!

Especially Latuda and even Geodon...if you can't sleep Seroquel is great except most gain weight on it but I didn't. I find most side effects are psycho-somatic for most people! Another thing, for me it's all about finding the right dose. Btw Latuda and Geodon are the only two weight neutral AAPs. Best of luck!!

I was on the 15mg pill for about 3 months. I can say my anxiety level markedly went way up. Now I am on the Abilify Maintenna 400mg ER injection and don't notice much anxiety. MAybe I'm used to it now or maybe it had something to do with the pill itself.

I am not sure. I had akathisia real bad with halidol years ago but I would not describe it at all like anxiety. They did give me cogentin, a benzo, to alleviate it but they wouldn't give me near enough to work.

I started out on 5 mg then pdoc upped it to 10 mg. I stuck with it until I ended up in psych hospital. Since stopping, I have not felt the level of anxiety that makes me consider the big S.

I had severe akathisia from a Haldol injection so I know the hell you went through. I was so restless that I barely slept for a week. They gave me cogentin but it did not help much. All it did was dry my mouth out and make me drowsy. Benzodiazepines work a lot better than antiparkinson drugs for drug induced akathisia.

I'm not on Abilify right now. I never had akathisia from Abilify. The drug actually stopped my akathisia. I'm one of those people who gets non drug induced akathisia.

It was sheer hell. My leg muscles were totally ridgid, couldn't sleep, walked constantly to get any relief. I took it for a year because I didn't know how to self advocate at the time and just followed doctors orders. I was extremely manic and psychotic at the time and all the new ones were not out yet.
