I've been on zoloft 25mg for a little over a week and noticed I've been bruising regularly. I've found three bruises and I don't know how I got them. Is this a serious side effect?

Are you also on coumadin?

The patient insert for Zoloft includes the following warning: "Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: easy bruising/bleeding...."
Therefore, I'd tell your doctor immediately, as suggested. Lar |

No, I'm not on coumadin.
Thank you for the reply Larry. I will try getting in contact with my doctor. Not sure if he'll return my call today since it's Saturday. Thanks again, Patricia |

You are probably OK, as I have only seen this as significant problem for people already on blood thinners, but definitely let your doc know.

My doctor did not get back to me and I wasn't sure if I should go to the emergency room. I feel ok physically, so I'll just keep taking the medication until I speak to My doctor. |

I stopped effexor because of that - bruising is not a good sign - talk to your Dr. for sure
