Not sure where to put this post, if it's in the wrong forum feel free to move it where it would belong.

I've noticed that I bruise easily, not sure why or how they got there, it's mainly on my upper leg. I have new ones that I woke up with.

Any ideas? Could I be lacking something in my diet?

Are you eating enough? I've found that when I don't eat, or not enough, I get bruised when I sleep, on my hips and the inside of my knees where they press together, as well as my lower legs in general.

If you are eating enough... maybe you should try eating foods rich in iron? I know that anaemia causes easy bruising, so perhaps you are slightly anaemic? i don't know really, just suggesting. You could try taking multi-vitamins too and see if they help any.

Hi!

Have you been taking vitamins each day? I was experiencing the same thing as you've described and it was found that I was very short on Vit B and Iron.

I take Centrum Silver now...everyday! I's a very good vitamin. I not only have more energy now..but the bruising has stopped. Also, the white pitting under my fingernails has stopped. As we get older we often forget that we NEED
to start taking a good vitamin. (not pluggin the product,lol)...just giving you my situation. Hope this helps ya' Bruising easily

Hi Sundance Bruising easily

When I was 16 I went through a period where I bruised really bad. The Dr said it was because I wasnt eating enough and there is a certain vitiman in green vegatables that will help with it. Maybe calling the Dr and see if there is some type of supplement you can take. Wishing you well.

Hugs,

Jen

Are you taking an SSRI?
I was taking one a while back and I started bruising; my Dr told me it can be a side effect and took me off it. Sorry - I can't remember what it was.

Thank you for the replies. I haven't been eating enough no. Ever since my SAD kicked in I don't eat hardly as much as I should be. I don't take vitamins, only because I keep forgetting to do it.

No I'm not on SSRI's any longer , I'm Effexor... I don't believe it is in the SSRI catagory is it?

As for as anemia goes I've had blood drawn for that (however not recently) and it was low but just above enough to say it was not a definacy. I try to get vitamins through fruits mainly, I should be buying more veggies...

I'm horrible at taking care of myself. Bruising easily

All my bruising is on my upper leg/upper thigh area. That's where I notice it anyways the most.

Dehydration can lead to easy bruising, as can over hydration & water retention. Copper is a good venous strengthener, as are some of the other 'micro-nutrients'. You can always try sleeping w/your legs elevated, too - long periods of standing can cause varicose veins & easy bruising in the legs & elevation can help relieve some of the pressure on the veins & capillaries.
