My pdoc wants my ablify dosage to be 2 and to go on lamactil in a month. I'm aftaid to take it. He mentionbed Pristiq, which I know is a newer antidepressant. My sister takes Wellbutrin and likes it.

If I go on the lamactil how do I keep myself safe? I heard the stuff can make your skin fall off. I already had some bad side effects from the Abilify, but it worked on the depression really well. I'm frustrated with the pdoc to suddenly up and switch my dx as well as my meds, when I was stable for months and months.

If you develop a rash on lamictal, stop it immediately. I am on 200mg Lamictal with a once a month injection of Abilify. My depression is pretty much gone as well as my psychotic symptoms. You have to slowly go up in MG with Lamictal, you can't just start at the targeted dose. Yes Lamictal has the possibility of Steven Johnsons Syndrome but it is fairly rare. Just have to keep a lookout while starting it. I've been on Lamictal over a year.

I love Lamictal and I'm on 600mg since at that level it helps augment the ADs. Abilify helps as well with depression at 2.5mg-5mg. I've taken those for years with no side effects. Instead of Pristiq, Fetzima is much more effect for MDD and is weight neutral...best of luck!

If you are still stable and happy with the results you are getting with your current meds it doesn't seem to make sense to change things up.

I take Lamictal and like it. The rash is pretty rare and you should start low and go up and if you get it stop taking it. I think I would have a lot of questions for your doc. You have a say in your treatment including meds.
