** By Wellbutrin I mean the generic Bupropion.

I have been taking Wellbutrin for some times now, the last two months I have been taking the regular Wellbutrin( not SR or XL) at 2 75mg in the morning ( total for 150mg)

Recently I seemed to stop working, and when I went back to the Pdoc he wanted to raise it because he said the normal dose is 300mg and not the 150mg I have been on, also he feels there is a chance it may help in weight loss. I am going to start taking Wellbutrin SR at 300mg- 150mg in the morning and 150mg afternoon time.

So, has anything done this increase, just wondering what your experience is about the increase or anything having to do with this drug- weight loss, weight gain, etc?
thanks so much for your sharing!!

Yes the SR does work for appetite suppression. It just caused me to be on edge though on that dose.

Once I tried Wellbutrin and felt wired so didn't take it long. Years later after trying several things, we decided to try Wellbutrin since SSRIs weren't doing it. Even at the low dose of 150mg, I felt a little boost. I then increased to 300mg, which is the target dose I believe. That was fine for a while, but then I went down. So now I'm at 450mg, which is the maximum dose (have to be not prone to seizures). It feels like it's working, though I am also taking something else that also is activating. I don't feel wired or anxiety or irritable. And I would be sensitive to that because I have PTSD. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that you should go that far. Just saying that "yes" I have upped the dose and found it working without problems. I haven't been keeping track of weight lose per se due to the meds. I simultaneously started eating differently and exercising and being more active because I now had the energy to, so perhaps an indirect effect? But I have lost weight during this period.

That sounds hopefully. I'd be so much happier if I could drop a few pounds which would at least maybe give me the motivation to stick with it. This drug was making me really irritable (which I am to begin with) but recently not as bad which makes me think it stopped working. But thats for the input!

I'm on 150mg. I've been on up to 450, but at that dose I was falling a lot -it made me off balance, but it does work great as a appetite suppressant. I would like to be on a higher dosage now because of that, but I doubt my doctor will do that for me.

Yeah it was making me feel weird when I started it, and now it seems to stop working. So hopefully I get some positive effects, id even deal with some negatives if it helped with weight loss.

So this weight loss possibility sounds possible. I will try not to get my hopes up. However 150mg has seemed to stop working. Thanks for the input. Take care!

Haha I think you replied to one of my posts before. I seemed to get angry(easier than usual) when I first started, but as I mentioned it seems to stop working all together mostly.

I take 400 mg. It's definitely not helping me lose weight.
