Provigil. It has worked to save me from a pit of depression and it should be approved for that so others can use it if appropriate.

I know it's not exactly a psych med, but I'm going to have to say diphenhydramine. On those nights where I am restless and anxious, popping two of those around 9pm eases me to sleep. If I'm not feeling tired by 10:30 or so, I take another, the third *always* does the trick.

1. Wellbutrin (best AD I ever had so far)
2. Zoloft (this is actually a love & hate thing, I hate starting it and getting past the side effects, but once I get by that it works good!)
3. Klonopin (best benzo imho, lasts much longer then the others)

Depakote has worked great for mania
love and hate relationship, too, with wellbutrin - makes me lose weight, but makes me dizzy and increases psychotic symptoms, so I can't increase the dosage enough.

I love Seroquel XR...but it gives me cystic acne. The bleeding ones. Since I'm on Seroquel, I hardly get manic anymore. My mood has stabilised too (I'm Bipolar 2). My depression sometimes can get pretty deep though.

How do you like the Nuvigil? How does it help you? I'm taking Provigil and like it. I don't find that many who take this class of drug.

Hi, I love Nuvigil since it tends to keep me a little above normal but not manic. I prefer it over Provigil, because I'm more alert and can think faster with it! I also like the other CNS pyscho stimulants, like Ritalin IR, since they give me a kick, but then I crash in the afternoon. Nuvigil is approved for off label use as I'm sure you know for depression and seasonal effective disorder so I find it quite effective for helping my depression. I still take Fetzima though for my anti depressant, and occasionally I take Valium since Nuvigil sometimes makes me too anxious at times. How do you like Provigil?

I love Provigil. I tend not to like stimulants; don't like feeling up and wired, don't like feeling jittery or anxious. But Provigil makes me feel calm and focused. I'm using it to help with depression. Years ago I took Provigil and it was the thing that worked so I went back to it. Had to get it approved, but did. I'm taking it with a high dose of Wellbutrin for the depression. The Provigil immediately addressed the biggest problem, which was just not really getting out of bed and sleeping too much. Now I am active, able to take on a full day, feel capable of taking on long tasks with concentration and ability whereas before everything was simply exhausting and seemed too hard.

That's awesome! I'm so glad it's helping you so greatly. I'll have to find out if the CNS psycho stimulants ever poop out. I don't think they do, but I'll find out for sure!

I took Provigil for 6 years. I stopped for reasons other than it not working so I think they last. I did have to up the dose because you do build a tolerance, but it took years.
