Hi all - question about Seroquel. Has anyone experienced what almost feel like pressure headaches (like you'd get with a sinus infection) when taking Seroquel?

My p-doc started me on Seroquel IR almost a month ago, for a bipolar mixed episode. I am very, very med sensitive, so he's been slowly building up my dose. I went from 100 mg in the evening for two weeks to 200 mg in the evening for about 4 days. I had to back down to 150 mg in the evening due to some side effects, and last week added an additional 50 mg around noon. For the past 10 days, I've been taking 150 mg at night (around 9 PM) and 50 mg around noon. For just the past couple of days, I've gotten a headache around 11 am that lingers for hours, even if I take ibuprofen. It is worse when I stand up or bend over, but still noticeable even when sitting. Could this be a side effect of the Seroquel?

I'll be seeing my pdoc on Monday and will mention it. Just wondering what others experiences were.

Here's some info on the side effects: Quetiapine Side Effects in Detail - Drugs.com. Headaches are mentioned way down in the details, but it said they can go away after awhile.

I agree that it would be a good idea for you to talk to your doc about it.

Idk, I'd say probably not, since I take 400mg for mood and sleep and feel fine, and I've never heard anyone else complain about headaches.

I get near-migraine headaches whenever I change dosages of Seroquel. I've been tapering off of it by lowering the dosage by 50 mg every two weeks. I get debilitating headaches for several days until my body adjusts to the lower dosage. But as with any psych meds, any side effect seems possible. But also maybe stress about the headaches and med changes are contributing to the headaches? Just a thought.

My neurologist gave me this For Headache, thinking it Might help relief my chronic post trauma head pain. It made my head feel like the inside was boiling and buzzing. Very unpleasant! And I really nervous and antsy in an uncomfortable way. I am backing it out of my system to get back to having just my regular pain. This stuff was not for me.

Thanks for the feedback.

My pdoc thinks it might have either been stress related, because I also started feeling anxious around the same time as the headaches, or that it might be due to Xanax withdrawal. Since starting Seroquel, I haven't needed nearly as much Xanax, and have been slowly backing off of that with my pdoc's guidance.

We changed the time and amount of Seroquel I'm taking, and the headaches are fading as my anxiety fades.

I hate the trial and error that is figuring out psych med dosing, but I do appreciated the results once you get it right.
