Hello everybody. I've been on wellbutrin for three months now. I take 150mg in the morning, on some days over tried 300 but there weren't any positive outcomes so I just stay at 150. I've recently started noticing some improvements with my ability to focus and whatnot. I'm using it primarily as an antianxiety med as well as an antidepressant. While there have been good things going on, I'm experiencing side effects. During the night, I become itchy on certain places of my body like my legs and arms. It becomes really annoying and I have to put lotion which sometimes doesn't work. How else should I deal with this? Another thing is the dehydration problem. Recently it has gotten better, but I don't always remember to drink a good amount of water. How many cups of water should I drink a day? Im not sure but I think I don't deck l drink a sufficient amount of water during the day.

I've been on Wellbutrin for almost 2 years. I don't recall any serious side effects at the beginning. I am suppose to be taking 150mg twice a day but same as you saw no difference so only take 1 pill a day. I have to tell you that for a lot of people, me included, Wellbutrin will either do nothing for anxiety and may even make it worse! Also as a AD it is a bit weak. When severe depression hits me I need another add-on AD. Right now I'm back on Zoloft with Wellbutrin. Zoloft has more side effects, constipation, dizziness, and the jitters, but they do go away after a couple of weeks. Zoloft and Wellbutrin work very well together! At least for me. Zoloft actually reduces my anxiety. No other med except for benzos can reduce my anxiety. It beats the hell out of Buspar

Yeah I was prescribed buspar before one med before this one, it didn't help much. I wonder why I'm having these side effects when I do feel benefit in the morning.

I used to take Wellbutrin/Aplenzin awhile back, and didn't have any problems at all with it...best of luck!

The itchiness would concern me and I would talk to your doc about that. Did you get that from the beginning?

I take Wellbutrin with no problems. I wouldn't tolerate the rash though. See if you can take something else.

I started Wellbutrin XL earlier this year. I increased the dose to 300mg relatively early on due to lots of fatigue and low energy with depression. I felt a bump up. I didn't experience any side effects. I was surprised. I had tried once, a long time ago, and felt "wired" so with another diagnosis involving anxiety, I immediately stopped.

This time my anxiety wasn't increased. Nor was my sleep bothered. I have now increased to 450mg to really combat a strong vegetative depression and it is working great. I will not stay at this high dose and am not recommending it at all so don't get me wrong. I'm just saying that I have been taking it steadily and at high doses and haven't experienced anything negative.

Personally, when I stop taking wellbutrin, like an idiot. I fall into a depressive state. So, obviously the NE and DA antagonist in those certain ares of my brain. Play a crucial part in my well being. However, I only take the Wellbutrin 300xl. The fast acting/regular ones hit me NTs to fast. The xl gives me a smooth flow over the day and I have had this issue a few times!

Weird 300 mg was giving me problems, cause I would think that it should make me feel even better than when I'm on 150. Would going to 300 make me weaker (like getting more dehydrated)? Also to the guy who's on 450, I thought 400 was the maximum dose...

Were you taking the 300 xl -time release? That would make a huge difference at that level.
I don't know any pdoc that goes above the 300 mg ceiling. It can lower your risk for seizures and would cause to much reuptake too much norepinephrine into the body and dopamine also. That alone could cause major issues. So, if you were on 300 mg. I hope you tried the xl?
And maybe your brain just isn't wired for a drug that can be overstimulating?
I think you take 150 mg now. I bet they have an xl version of that. If you are getting benefits. Talk to you doc and pdoc. Also, they should make sure the don't give anyone a strong NE enhancer is the person has and cardiovascular issues mho., not saying you do!
Also, it may help if you take it with food . If you don't already.

I just started taking Wellbutrin 150 a week ago, starting on the 300 tomorrow. I told my psych I needed something to get me going because as of right now I have zero energy and motivation. They keep telling me to exercise, but how am I supposed to do that when I can barely get myself to leave the house and ten hours of sleep a day still doesn't help me stay awake?

You should get a full panel of blood work done. If you haven't already. There can be many
other reasons for your symptoms.

If your reply was for me, I've had all the tests done that you can have, blood work among many other things. Sometimes I wish there something wrong with me physically, then at least I would know if it was "fixable" or not.
