I have been on 20 mg of lexapro for about a month now divided into 2 10 mg doses taken both at the same time every evening.I have been doing relatively ok on this dose. A couple days ago I finally filled out the script for the 20 mg lexapro pills and didn't sleep a wink that night. I have had bad insomnia ever since and have been feeling weird. Just wondering if there is a difference in the way the body would process and absorb two ten milligram lexapro pills vs one 20 mg pill. I noticed the 20 was significantly bigger then the tens. My poor mood could be unrelated to this but just wondering if anyone has any input or opinions about this.

Thanks

I wouldn't think it would make any difference unless the 20's were ER- extended release. They would be a capsule or a tablet with a coating in it and should say ER on the label.

Or SR- Slow Release

I'm on 30mg Lexapro, but take it all in the morning. Perhaps if you took your pill in the morning it would help with your insomnia. Perhaps it's a result of taking my meds in the morning that results in my being able to get sleep at night. Another factor, however, is that I take seroquel at night, which makes you tired. In any case, a morning dose might help...But I'm not a doctor.

I wouldn't think they would be different unless perhaps they are a different generic and affect you differently. Although that seems unlikely. Are you actually taking Lexapro or generic? Could you try the two tens again and see if it helps? Seems it would be more expensive though.

Check with your pharmacist and your pdoc. Could be just a coincidence with something else.
