I've been taking Viibryd for a year and a half, and I think it's been helping with my social anxiety quite a bit, but I have to switch soon because my insurance is changing and it will be twice as expensive (it was already barely affordable).

I've tried Pristiq (hated it), Celexa (minimal results and I developed tolerance quickly), and Buspar (later found out my doc told me to take it "as needed" and that's not how it works!)

Has anyone else taken Viibryd and had success with a different medication?

Thanks Miguel'smom, but actually I filled out one of those a long time ago because $40/ month was still a struggle. They only help you out for a few months.

I'm on Viibryd...the jury is still out on whether it is useful or not; it's only been two months. Anyway, in the past, I took Cymbalta, which worked out the best for me - but this time around, I couldn't afford the $400 monthly charge - have you tried asking your prescribing MD for samples? That's how I get my viibryd, otherwise I'd probably be on nothing.

I tried it and it didn't work for me, unfortunately. I'm on Effexor right now. I think it might be working.

Viibryd was the 5th med I tried, didn't work for me. After that I tried Brintillex, didn't work well and made me sick. Currently on Wellbutrin XL and it's working pretty well.

For me, Viibryd is the greatest medication ever invented. Obviously for others it doesn't work as well, but for me it's the best. Our doctor gave us a prescription card from the manufacturer so we can get it for $25 with our insurance (normally $75).

Talk to your psychiatrist. They can probably give you the same card to save you a tremendous amount of money.

I had mixed results with it. On one hand, it was the only medicine (out of maybe 20 I've tried) that did anything for me. On the other hand, I'm still depressed, and the side effects have been noticeable.

If you can't get medication assistance in the form of samples or savings cards, consider asking to combine an SSRI with buspar. Viibryd is essentially an SSRI with a buspar-like component. Psychiatrists sometimes combine buspar with antidepressants to alleviate sexual side effects or boost efficacy.

perhaps prozac + buspar. and prozac is dirt cheap as a generic.
