Hi all,

I've been on Lamictal a little over three weeks. I'm going on 4th week and titrating up from 50 mg to 100 mg on Thursday.
So far, I've been incredibly energetic, clenching my to the point of pain, and mostly? In such a short time...my very small breasts have gone up from AA cup to a full A Almost B cup! Already? Is this even POSSIBLE? Admittedly this is the best side effect so far if it even IS the Lamictal. I can't think of anything else. Even pregnancy did nothing to my breast size until i breastfed.
Any other Lamictal users experience this? And will this wonderful side effect go away or only get "better" after I keep titrating up until we reach my therapeutic dose?
Lamictal is pulling me out of a great funk. Pretty happy with it so far!
Thanks for this!

Glad to hear it's working out. I haven't taken it but bigger breasts does not sound like a bad thing, although I would wonder what was making them bigger and if it had a different negative impact associated with it.

But if it's pulling you out of a funk that is great!

My doctor keeps suggesting I take it for my depression and anxiety, still not sure about it though. What dose are you trying to get to? And if you're seeing benefits now, do you even need to increase the dosage?

Hi changingMyMind! Happy to hear from you again. Starting to feel even more welcome here!

Ok that being said LAMICTAL breast change side effects
We are trying to get to 100, but Pdoc thinks that if I'm happy at 100, then we will stay there. I'm def feeling better of 50 mgs but I have a hunch I'll be that much better at 100. My DX is still panic disorder, GAD (the lame extreme sort) and depression...can't take SSRI's or any antidepressant for that matter. My PDOC thought the Lamictal would be a good try for the depression aspect (I also take gabapentin and clonazepam 1.5 mg daily) but I get insomnia and get mixed state episodes sever anxiety and agitation (pdoc on verge of a bipolar DX) oh PTSD too but we've talked about that...
I'd like to get to a "therapeutic dose" just to see if these great benefits increase!!

As far as the breast fullness? I'm not noticing any other negative impact from that! Since breastfeeding two babies, I was left with nothing...raisins in fact. Now? The raisin effect is GONE! And this doesn't happen ahem, any other time of the month..u catch my drift.

So I'm 100% convinced it's the Lamictal, but so soon? Really?! And if so, I'm even more psyched to titrating up to 100mg next week. The great benefits in my head and this unexpected side effects has me doing back flips. My husband is smiling too, I've cleaned my house, kept UP on the never ending pile of Fam's laundry, cooked large meals, and haven't had a suicidal thought since I started the Lamictal. Wow. Blown away I'm an atypical responder to meds and finally found my magic cocktail I think.

I think u should give it a whirl. The first couple weeks on 25mgs weren't my fav. Insomnia, I felt jacked up a little too much, my anxiety didn't like it either. Once we went to 50mgs that wired feeling went away as I stabilized with the med. I didn't let that first two weeks scare me off and glad I gave this med a true chance to show me what it can bring to my table.
I say go for it!!!!
Thanks for this!

Thanks! I may do that. I'm sure my pdoc will start me much lower just because of my history with meds and the fact that I'm having issues itching on nearly every med I try right now. As you know, with Lamictal that's no joking matter, so I have to get that under control first and then maybe give it a go.

I am atypical in my response to meds as well.

Why can't you take SSRIs? I can't remember now.

I am at the point with SSRIs that I don't think my body likes them much. Just way too many side effects. Typically the less common and rare ones at that. Grrr, really hate my body for it lol

But I try to believe that every med that doesn't work fails for a reason and I am supposed to follow a different path. Maybe Lamictal is that path. I'll see what pdoc says next week.

Anxiety and insomnia. I swear on it for deep sleep even though I dont think gabapentin is given for that reason from what I've read. But I've been reading recently that it can help with deep wave sleep.

Oh ok... How does it work for anxiety? Xanax helps mine but doc doesn't want me to take it long term and I don't want to anyway. Any side effects?

Nothing for my anxiety. It pulls me out of the funk I tend to go in after my daily anxiety attacks though...so, that's a huge benefit. I find it more activating, helpful for the depression side of things LAMICTAL breast change side effects

Oops I thought u were asking about the Lamictal for anxiety. Gabapentin? It's a pretty good med. gentle anxiety relief nothing like my clonazepam of course. But it's a great add on because eventually id like to take the clonazepam in a PRN basis

U might ask pdoc about klonopin. Aka clonazepam. Longer half life and more people take that long term due to that.

Yeah my pdoc said if she prescribes again she will do klonopin instead. I had a random pdoc I saw twice in between my regular who gave me the Xanax. I'd like to just take one pill for everything. I guess that is where the antidepressants come in.

I stay away from Xanax I don't have addictive tendencies ever except coffee and cigs (eww) but I still stay away from Xanax too risky. I've found klonopin to work well on pretty much the same low dose for two years and only recently upped to 1.5 a day taken twice a day. That w the gabapentin and Lamictal I think we've finally found a winner. I too only wanted just one magical med, but as I have diff issues I accepted I needed help with each of these issues.

Ok bear with me. I'm noticing yet another side effect. Heavy heavy sighs. Mouth sores now along with the worst breathe I have ever had, tongue coating and white gums. The sores or rather blisters are in between my inner cheek and gums and are very painful and even more annoying. My husband won't even kiss me because we're afraid of him developing thrush. At least that's what my tongue looks like. So far this is the worst side effect and I thought this was my imagination first but the mouth issue hasn't subsided for weeks now and seems to be getting worse with the new sores. My PDoc is saying I'm atypical as far as side effects so I'm VERY curious if it's just me.
Thanks

Desiree

Wow sounds like you're having a rough time with these side effects. I know it's only been a few days but has it let up at all?

No I'm brushing 3-4 times a day rinsing my mouth with dry mouth act and well I just don't know anymore. Side effects from ALL meds tend to love me. It's the lucky hand I got dealt with all the other issues

I'm sorry to hear it! I too was dealt that wonderful hand! Every single med I've been on has done it to me as well, even ibprofin and other over the counter stuff. So I know how much it sucks!

You're hanging in there well though! Much better than I would have. I have a low tolerance for pain so I would have probably stopped Lamictal already.

What does your doctor say, keep plugging along? Do your side effects ever go away? Mine typically don't.
