I called my doctor today and they prescribed Vistaril. I should have it by Friday afternoon. Will update on how it goes
Glad you were able to get it. Let me know how it works for you.

I have a few questions, if Benadryl seems to help my allergies for a few hours at a time, do you think Vistaril would do the same? I'm not taking it specifically for allergies but thought that may be an added benefit because mine are very bad and the Claritin I'm on is not helping at all. Do you think it would be worth calling my regular doctor to see about getting on something else for my allergies or wait and see how this goes? How many milligrams is typically taken and how many times a day?

I'm sorry for all the questions lol if you don't know that's fine

It's all good! I've had it written as 50mg every 6 hrs PRN. But I have also seen it written as 25mg three times a day. I am not 100% sure but I believe it is used more for like rashes and hives time allergic reactions.

I take Cetirizine (Zyrtec) 10mg HS and Fluticasone Propionate (Flonase) 50mcg x4 when I get up between those two meds I can actually breathe lol. I also have Equate: Sinus Congestion & Pain Severe Pain Reliever, 24 Ct - Walmart.com for when I get a bad flare of stuffiness/sinus headache. This stuff is amazing lol. All of those besides the Flonase are OTC meds. However if you want to go an all OTC method you can get Nasacort in place of the Flonase. I have used both and they work about the same.
Thanks for this!

It's not a med, but have you tried an exercise routine? It helps me a lot.
Thanks for this!

I know anti-depressants have some anti-anxiety qualities but I've been on most of them and have never experienced that. Plus I don't want to change medications because the one I'm on at the dose I'm at is working great.

My question is, are you on an anti anxiety med every day that is non-Benzo? What are you on, and does it help you?

These are the ones I've heard of:
Attarax
Buspar
Propranolol/Atenolol

It wouldn't be for panic attacks as they don't happen very often, the Klonopin would be kept for that. It would just be for every day anxiety.
They put me on seroquil for anxiety and I couldn't get enough sleep. I'm very sensitive to medications though also so you could ask about that one. It's not proven for anxiety it's for mood stability but I guess it helps really well with anxiety. I'm on buspar right now...a very low dose but I haven't seen much improvement. I was on Ativan twice a day but it got to where I needed it all the time and I've tried klonapin also and I didn't like the feeling it gave me. I'm sure this doesn't help much...the way it's been for me is just try something and see if it works...sucks but someday you'll find something just ask your doctor
Thanks for this!

I also have allergies so I thought to go on Benadryl, but then read somewhere that if you use it all the time (i.e. anxiety), it will no longer work for a severe allergic reaction when you really need it.

I do not know if that is related, but I used Benadryl for sleep and after a week it stopped working.
