Started my first 25mg dose this morning. Ooo slightly felt drugged lol... I'm hoping that I will respond well to this so I can come off the Abilify and maybe the Seroquel will be lowered.

Wondered how others got along with it in the first month or so?

I did pretty well on Lamotrigine and most people I have spoken too say its a really good medication. The only thing as far as side effects that i experienced was a numbing sensation of the tongue. It was temporary as my body got used to the medication.

The first month I felt like I had a case of the flu, including swollen glands, body aches, headache, etc., but as I increased the dose each week, I found those side effects started going away so that by the time I hit around 100mg I had not side effects at all. It was helpful for me.

My husband didn't have those issues, but when they increased his dose above 150mg, he started having pretty severe memory and cognitive problems. Once they reduced it, that problem improved.

I can't really remember but I do know it was minor stuff that went away after each dose adjustment. I'm on 200 now with no side effects.

The next day, after my first dose, I felt like a train hit me. I was very sedated. I had to leave work early. I shouldn't have even driven myself home. I haven't had any side effects. I've been on it for a month now. Next month, I should be up to 200mg.

I really didn't feel it till it started working, like at 150, but that only lasted a few days. I've kept going up and now I'm parked at 300 mg, and no problems.

For most people, Lamictal is a wonderful medication. As for my own experience with it...nothing, really. Four times I have tried Lamictal all the way up to the full dose. Every time I might have noticed a very slight leveling of my mood, but honestly, it was as though I was taking a sugar pill. I had no bad side effects - but no real beneficial effects, either. I've given up on the stuff.

I love my Lamictal, however the first week I was HORRIBLY afflicted with constipation. An entire box of exlax and a enema was needed to relieve the pain....ugh

Bipolar II, GAD diagnosed 20 years ago. Recently went off Lithium, Celexa and Clonazapam. Started Lamotrigine 13 days ago. Had a major Flu yesterday and today. hard to believe it could be from Lamotrigine but they say flu like symptoms are associated with it's use/??? Also, brain zaps - seem to be getting worse but tolerable.

Started at 50mg's probably should have started at 25mg to titrate. Not sure how some get up to 100mg's let alone 2 or 3! scary start, thinking of going off.

I had very few side effects or sedation on my way up to 400mg. I id get a rash but it was not the dreaded lamictal rash and I was told it was probably a reaction but nothing to be concerned about (more like hives) and continued on it. It was fantastic mood stabilisation for me but then got too expensive for me to afford. Its annoying waiting so long to get up to theraputic doses but is worth it. I think it works better for depression than mania but is a good mood stabiliser overall. Goodluck!

Ive been on lamictal since 2008 and have no side effects. I count myself blessed. I usually get weird ones.

Its a really good med for a lot of people.

I wish you well!!!
