clonazepam Serequol And weening down off a high dose of citilopram Problem is, I really like the clonazepam and I can take 2 per day as needed, but I find it makes me suuuuuper drozy. If I take it at night I kinda loose the benefit of it wouldn't i? I asked for a pill to make the bad thoughts and feelings go away and low and behold, there's a pill for that! |

At one time I was prescribed Clonazapam on an as-needed basis. I was told it is an old antidepressant that, nowadays, is prescribed primarily for sleep. This is why it was prescribed for me & I took it before bed for that reason.

I wouldn't take clonazepam just for sleep. Kind of wasting its efficacy. Really meant for anxiety based symptoms. There are other, probably more effective meds for sleep.

Clonazapam is not an anti depressant. It is a benzodiazepine for anxiety. Yeah take as little as possible. If you don't need it at night don't take it. If it makes you drowsy try a lower dose. I take .5 mg and it doesn't make me drowsy but if I take 1 mg it knocks me out.

I think perhaps I was confusing clonazepam with something else. I had forgotten that clonazepam is the generic variety of Klonopin. I was on that at one time too. But I was thinking there was another med, that was an older antidepressant, I was given for sleep. Either that or they were, in fact, giving me Klonopin for sleep back then. Now I just don't know for sure.

Funny, I do find clonazapam makes me drowsy, I take .5 twice a day, but I love the effect it gives me so I put up with the drowsiness and drink more coffee... I think taking at night would be a waste as well, tho that is what the pharmacist told me to do (which I dont). I take seraquol at night for sleep.

Taking clonazepam at night is a sensible thing to do. Clonazepam is a long lasting benzo. It stays in your body much longer than vailum or xananx. So you should be getting the anti anxiety benefits the next day. You could always try taking it at night as a trial and see how it works for you.

I can actually take my .5mg x day and it doesn't make me groggy anymore. Omg I love this stuff. I haven't taken it for long and maybe it's the combo with Effexor that just go up'd to 75, but I feel so much better. Not just with depression I feel like I can talk to people better, I read it helps with social phobia and I think it's helping with that as well.

To me it's a miracle drug and I am well aware of the dangers. .5 mg twice daily, soon to be once daily.

Amitriptyline (Elavil) is an old antidepressant that is sometimes prescribed as a sleep aid. I take it, and it is very helpful.
I took Klonopon for awhile. I didn't find it very helpful for anxiety, but it was making me sleepy in the middle of the day, even though I had taken it the night before. So I got off it and didn't miss it. |

Clonazepam is SO helpful for me. What dose are you taking? Sometimes it's a matter of adjusting to it, but it could also be that a lower dose might be better for you?
