Hi folks,

I've been on 5mg of Abilify at night for 4 weeks nearly & have just gone up to 10mg 2 days ago.

Recently, I've not been sleeping so well & I think going up dose has exacerbated that. My psychiatrist said the recommendation is normally to take Abilify in the morning so I was thinking of switching.

Does anyone have experience of switching from taking at night to the morning?

I was thinking of just waiting an extra 12 hours give or take to when I wake up at 7am. I'm also on citalopram but I'm in the habit of taking it after breakfast near 8am, so thought I'd keep that there.

if you think it is what is keeping you up at night it is probably a good idea to take it in the morning instead,.

Yes Loial, that's what I did too. When I switched from bedtime to waking time I waited the 12 hours or so. It works out better for me sleep wise.

Ditto. I'm on 30mg & take it in the morning. It doesn't affect my sleep at all.
Thanks for this!

Well, 3rd day of taking meds in the morning... not noticed much difference. I was quite tired on the 1st day but I think that was because I slept poorly having skipped a dose to switch times.

I'm not sure if the change or going up in dose has settled the restlessness for now, but largely speaking something seems to have.

I have been on abilify (between 2 and 5 mg a day) for five years, and have not slept through the night since I have been on it. I take it in the morning. I tried taking it at night without any improvement.

Sorry to hear that Rundogrun.

I've actually switched back from morning to night, as after being at 10mg for a while. It seemed more sedating during the day.

As for how I sleep at night... it varies. Sometimes well and others not but there are other factors like me using nicotine patches during the day & the fact I never slept perfectly before starting Abilify anyway. My best guess is it really isn't affecting my sleep that much one way or the other apart from making me go to bed earlier.

I'm having a lot of trouble sleeping at night. I don't know whether that's due to the Abilify or something else. It's awful though because today I slept from 5 to 11 am.
