I used to tolerate pretty much any kind of cold drugs just fine. I tried taking DayQuil the last couple days. But I feel completely terrible, like I have a bucket on my head and the whole world is spinning around inside it. I find myself sitting staring into space and will drop off to sleep standing up if I'm still long enough. I had a head injury a couple years ago and this feels exactly like I did after that. Ew. But I seem to remember being able to handle cold meds after that and the only change is the Wellbutrin.

Anyone have this problem? There isn't anything on the labels of the drugs I've read that say anything about drug interactions with Wellbutrin. But it clearly is a problem for me. So my question is this: what do you take for cold symptoms that works with the other meds?

I'm not sure if there are problems between Wellbutrin and cold meds, but I don't take cold meds because they can cause anxiety, and since I suffer from anxiety disorder, it just doesn't seem a good idea. Wellbutrin and OTC cold medicines?

But I'm posting to suggest using Airborne, since it's not a drug at all. It's actually to help prevent colds, and should be taken at the first sign of a cold, but I've found that it helps with the stuffy head if you already have a cold. Additionally, I drink lots of orange juice with it, but be careful not to overdose on Vitamin C (if you find you're having a lot of loose stools, you want to cut back, heheheh).

I stay away from cold meds because, like Maven, I find that they increase my anxiety. Even the ones that list drowsiness as a side effect have the opposite effect on me. I get edgy and my heart races.

I have the flu right now. I felt it coming on Monday morning and immediately started taking vitamin C, echinacea, and a natural remedy called Cold FX (it's basically just high doses of ginseng) and spent a day in bed. It doesn't make me feel better immediately, but I find that my colds and flus seem to be less intense and don't last as long when I start on these immune-boosters and get some rest at the first signs of feeling sick. I'm starting to feel better already.

I have heard very good things about the Airborne stuff that Maven mentioned. My friends in the U.S. swear by it, but I haven't been able to find it in the pharmacies here.

The only other thing I take is Flonase nasal spray -- for my sinus problems.

I hope you feel better soon.

I always have good luck asking my pharmacist what to take or not take with medicines. Or I look on-line too!

almeda, if you need to add to a post you just posted, you can just hit the "Edit" button and add to the same post, instead of creating a new one. I say this because you said you were sorry and you hit "Continue" too fast, so I'm assuming you didn't want to post a new post. Wellbutrin and OTC cold medicines?

When I get a cold I have bad problems with sinus congestion. Rather than taking tons of cold meds, I use a combo of OTC nasal spray and a prescription nasal spray. As long as I stick with it, it does the trick.
