Wondering whats out there for antidepressants that effectively treat depression, anxiety and OCD.

I am currently on Zoloft and have been for years but the depression is back and the OCD is creeping its way back into my head. It worked fantastic for many years.

I am worried about going on a new AD, last time we tried messing with the zoloft I ended up in the emergency room then hospital for 3 weeks. I cant afford to have that happen this year.

I have been on a huge number of antidepressants, the only other one I can think of off the top of my head that addresses all 3 problems is Lovan/Prozac, that has worked for me before but popped out.

What new meds are out there? The doctor mentioned Zyban on my last visit. Any one have any experience with this?

Hi Supanova

I'm wondering if members have commented on the effects of Zyban here:

Zyban is Wellbutrin. It is very likely to increase anxiety and obsessions.

As far as I can see Zyban (Bupropion, also marketed as Wellbutrin) is indicated for Major Depressive Disorder and to help people to quit smoking.

It does not seem to be indicated for anxiety or OCD.

You might find the information here helpful: Bupropion - FDA prescribing information, side effects and uses .

As always, discuss that information with your health professional care team,

Thanks

He did mention it could increase anxiety but we were hoping for an increase in energy with zyban. I dont think it would be the right one for me if it increases OCD, I hadnt mentioned that to him last visit as it was not distressing.

Maybe I should just up the zoloft? I am only on 100mg, and I have been up to 200 before.

I cant find my book with all the meds.

Yeah I have done pretty much every therapy for this specifically. I continue to do talk therapy on a weekly basis, sometimes biweekly basis. My pdocs say I am one of their most proactive patients when it comes to therapy and coping skills. Usually they have to push me for a med change but the time has come that I know I need it before I get out of control.

Im leaning towards upping the zoloft. I've had success with paroxitine in the past also, before it popped out, but that was before the ocd was this bad.

Has anyone had success going back onto old meds that had eventually stopped working, and have them work again?

I never had any luck going back on the same med, although I only tried it with one I admit.
