I'm taking Lamictal now, at what is a low dose. I'm sensitive to medications so going up higher on any medication is not an option. I am more stable from Lamictal in that I haven't had a mixed state in a while, but I am still quite depressed despite taking it. When I was on Lamictal and Zoloft, I went into a mixed state after a few weeks, but in the weeks before that, I was feeling better from depression. I'm thinking of calling my doctor and asking for an antidepressant because the depression is awful and making schoolwork very unappealing. I'm worried it will trigger a mixed episode again, and that state would be even worse than this depression. I don't know what I should do here...

For me, paxil was a more calming AD. Still an SSRI so there's some risk, but for me paxil and lamictal was a good combo.

I'm scared of going into a mixed state again, but I'm going to ask for the ad because this depression is awful.

I started on Cymbalta yesterday, so for now it's Cymbalta and Lamictal.

Just added prozac to lamotrigine (generic lamictal) yesterday for the same reason. First time trying this, hope it goes well. Depression sucks (literally... sucks the life out of you).
Hope you find something that works well for you. Good luck.
