in the past, I was very anti medication and treatment, this was more about myself feeling weak and being unable to cope, so I shifted the anger to the docs or the medicine. This is a normal way to react to pills n stuff. The side effects can be a bucket of discomfort, but it's the lesser of two evils. It would be worse without it, speak to those who have tried to detach from medication without a doctor's permission.

I use to expect the pills to take away all the pain, and make everything perfect again (was it ever)?

I am not a doctor, or your parents, I have lived this for decades. No touristing or clipboard medicine here.
