Hey guys, I was prescribed Wellbutrin SR 150mg for depression while in India (long story) and was dispensed the generic version. The brand is Bupron SR 150 from Sun Pharma. I took this medicine for 4 days and experienced very bad nausea, vivid dreams, brain zaps/shocks, and major aggression/mood swings. I was told to stick it out but I had to discontinue use. Symptoms became too much to handle.

The weird thing is that the tablets have no actual markings on them. They are just blank, round white pills that came in a weird sealed tin foil. Not the usual kind of foil that you would think of like the kind with plastic on one side and can easily pop out capsules, etc. Also, they are labeled "Bupropion Hydrochloride Extended Release Tablets USP" but they are actually the SR "Sustained Release" version here in the US. They are not expired either.

The problem is that I felt worse and worse as the days went by, instead of the opposite. It's been a few days since I've stopped taking these pills but I still feel horrible! I can't believe these are normal side effects after only 4 days of use.

Anybody have any experience with this specific generic?

Thanks in advance
Hugs from:

Did you have to take a break in between moving countries? If you were on a high dose and had a break and picked back up at that dose, then that can happen with lots of SSRI's.

I don't know Wellbutrin dosage, so I don't know if yours is high or not. If you took a break, it's not it being generic that you're having a problem with. It's your body trying to readjust when you should have been tapered back up to your dose.

Unfortunately, that was the first time I have ever taken Wellbutrin and I believe 150mg is the standard starting dose.
