So stepping down to 1mg of Klonolpin. I was on 4mg til mid last year. Then halved it to 2mg. About 4 weeks ago it went down to 1.5 tomorrow and tomorrow night it will go down to 1mg. Yay. Nay. ?????. Each time I drop the dose down I am bright eyed and bushy tailed when try to go to sleep. My anxiety levels haven't gone up, but my spasms/tics etc are even more apparent than normal. Most of the time I am numb due to dissociation.

I don't think i am suffering withdrawals. Is it possible that withdrawals will kick in later?

Maybe not. I weened myself off klonopin and didn't have any withdrawls. I know some people have them but it's a good sign that you haven't had any so far.

keep it up.

many many people do not have serious, or even any withdrawals, if they go slow.

try not read too much on the internet about coming off k. lol this is hard i know, but you will come across what seems like millions of people who have had bad experiences. you don't read about the many many people who did it right and were fine. usually a too fast taper or complete 'cold turkey' is sometimes the case with these people's bad experiences.

very glad gayle shared her experience. more people need to know stories like hers. and, hopefully your's and mine. people get off this drug all the time. they just don't post anywhere as often as those who have difficulty. why would they?

again, just a suggestion; try your best to limit reading about other people's withdrawal experiences on the internet. i'll try too!

i am basically doing the same thing as you; 3 to 4mg a day (4+ years) down to 1mg now over the last 3 months or so. i am holding for a while at 1mg. no problems so far for me. and, i am super sensitive to meds. i was really freaking-out about trying to get off this from all my research.

***if you get some symptoms you might want to make a smaller cut; .25mg or even
.125mg.***

take your time. slow wins the race. make sure you let close family, dear friends, and especially your doctor know how things are going.

good luck and godspeed to both of us and everyone else out there too trying to do this.
Thanks for this!

I ended up on 4mg of risperidone to get my sanity back. Went all the way down to .5 for a year and then increased to 1mg because suicide seemed like a good idea at the time. Increase has helped those thoughts.

You can always increase. I think the lower the better.

You are right jjm51. It is so easy to read bad things about tapering . Maybe we should have a good news story thread about meds? I am still on 1mg not sure when I will halve it to 50mg. I suppose it won't be that far away.

jaci I did ask my p'doc about increasing the dosage if things weren't going well. He said it would be okay if I needed to.

With ref to my previous post of 50mg per day it was a typo. I will be dropping down to .5mg.

So far so good. Fingers crossed.........
