![]() I was recently diagnosed bipolar after only a short interview by my PCP. I have ADHD, and think that this diagnosis may be in error. What would happen if I took quetiapine and am not bipolar? Should I get a second opinion?

I would get second opinion from a psych doc or specialist.
As far as the medicine that's your choice. I doubt it will hurt you. have you had depression, or unusual elevated, energetic moods?

If I were in your shoes, I would get a second option from a psychiartrist before I start taking any psychiatric drug.
In my experience, I was prescribed a medication by a psychiatrist, and I had withdrawal affects from coming off of that medication. So be careful, because some people have withdrawal affects when they stop taking psych meds. But not all people have withdrawal affects, depending on the medication.

I have had depression since I was a child. I tend to be energetic all the time. I believe my high energy is caused by ADHD.

I have been prescribed anti psychotics over the years even though I have never had a psychotic episode. My p'doc knew what meds may help me though. Yes, like other people have said get a second opinion.
Some meds can be helpful even though you may not have that condition. |
