I know know all medications say don't drink while on buspar. But that's extremely hard. Is it actually ok to drink on buspar? If i do want to drink one night do I just stop it that day?

Tangerine87,

The clear answer is not if you want your meds to work. Buspar does affect serotonin and alcohol is a depressant so, no if you want your med to work properly.

Hope this helps.

I sometimes drink on my meds and nothing bad happened.

But, you should be really careful because you might have a different reaction than normal to alcohol. Some people get drunk faster, some get drunk in a different way and there have been people blacking out on a relatively low dosage of alcohol.

That said, I do not think you would die from direct causes.

If you decide to drink, do it under safe circumstances like someone you trust with you, and try less than you normally drink in case it would affect you more. Probably nothing bad will happen but better safe than sorry.

It might be an insightful idea to question yourself as to why you want to drink on a medication that says "do not drink while on this medication" to the point that you're considering skipping a dose of your med to drink....just a thought.
