Is it possible that my new med (Paliperidone XR) doesn't work? I was on 6mg for two days and I felt nothing. Then it was increased to 12mg two days ago and I got a bit of akathesia, dry mouth..

He took me off of the abilify a few days because I was shaking too much but I didn't mind apart from my lungs squeezed for a day but it works amazing for schizophrenia especially disorganized.

I'm just wondering because this med isn't widely prescribed. I told the doctor that I'm fine but apparently I'm still very paranoid and increased it.

Abilify worked great for paranoia I want the injection of this instead of Invega because I'm not very med compliant.

invega i tried one pill. it knocked me out cold and i was nonfunctional for 18 hours. i never took it again. if abilify is making you shake, but working well, i wonder if cogentin or artane would take that away? it is what i take for the side effects of my AP. they work to take away parkinsons type symptoms which is what shaking is. it totally worked for my td with haldol and now i am taking it again for the neurological side effects from geodon. ask your pdoc. good luck.

Hyperagitate, I think your doc is switching your meds a little too quickly. I had a pdoc who by my stated symptoms would change my meds and discontinue one without going slowly off of it and I ended up with unwanted results from withdrawing and I never knew if certain new meds would have worked. I was changed too quickly so I quickly got another pdoc. Good luck.

I believe that Invega can knock someone out for 18 hours because that's almost exactly what happened when I took too much risperdal.

Thanks for the replies ^^

Btw ya my psychiatrist just spins the wheel while skipping every drug recommendation that will help me and be in this psychiatric hospital much shorter. I think I know the reason now it's that I'm under care and the side effects do go away with cogentin

I took Invega and honestly I didn't notice it helping me much until about 2.5-3 weeks in. If your flipping meds so quickly your not allowing your brain to even attempt to find out if a medication will be helpful or not.

Also tossing all kinds of meds at your brain in a short amount of time usually results in a slushie of meds.

All meds take time to level out and see if its going to help at all.

I took Invega for 8 months and honestly it was the only AP thus far that had zero side effects for me.
