I've been taking a lot of pills. I take it to help me sleep. Tonight, I took them all at once, but I'm not feeling the effects of it. I've done this many times. I'll take it until I tolerate it so well that it doesn't work, then stop for a few days to a week, then start over. I'm just wondering what it'll do to me. I'm starting to feel a little muscle pain, and am having spasms, but I'm not sure if that's related to the med.

You need to contact your pdoc or whoever prescribed this medication for there help and find a solution other than abusing a medication... I am pretty certain that taking such large amount of visteral can't be healthy for you.
Since none of us are medical doctors we cant advise you on any possible health problem by taking your medication in this manner. take care

The spasms could be a result of the overdose. The usual prescribed dose is no more than 100 mg. As ~Christina said, you should definitely see your doctor. Repeated overdosage may be more dangerous than listed above. It is not a safe way to help you sleep. Perhaps you could be prescribed something else? Or work on good sleeping habits so that you rely on meds less? |

I think I've heard that vistaril like other antihistamines can have a paradoxical effect when taken in excess, i.e. if you take too much, it will keep you awake. I've had that experience with taking too much vistaril and diphenhydramine (benadryl).

Vistaril in particular is getting a lot of attention recently, especially in Europe and they're putting out additional warnings to prescribers because there have been several recent reported cases of fatalities from a prolonged QTc interval, (your QTc interval is the repolarization part of your heart beat). It's a dangerous drug to mess with. Let your doc know what you've been doing and let them prescribe something safer. |
