Who else takes these?? My doctor prescribed me some the other day, I have been extremely distressed after my break up and at times was unbearable. I've heard these are addictive and not the best, but they have helped when i'm feeling really stressed. I don't take much either they are only 2mg and today I have taken 2

I don't take Valium, but I take Clonazepam. I have also taken Ativan (another benzodiazepine) for flying. I think Valium is only for short-term or occasional use because of its addictive potential. Clonazepam is more often prescribed for long-term use.

I'm sorry you're in such distress right now, sweetie. I hope you start feeling better soon.

How I love valium--I am an addict, so I don't take them very often--just for a plane trip or somethink like that. If you need them, you need them. Just watch yourself--if you start taking them in a way not directed by your doc--tell him/her right away.

Hi,
I take xanax and have for many years, at a low dose. It helps me deal with extreme anxiety and even acts as a slight antidepressant. I know I am "hooked" on it, but I have accepted it; the pdoc who prescribed it never told me it was addictive. I did reduce the dose. Then I wanted to go off it completely so I switched over to valium very slowly and then tapered the valium. Now I take 50% less xanax and it helps. I would not recommend taking the valium daily or you will become dependent. Just a friendly suggestion!
Best wishes.

I was on Xanax for 15 years to help curb anxiety so I could sleep. I have now been switched to klonopin--I guess it is longer-acting. I never took Xanax during the day. It would make me sleepy. I've only had to take the klonopin once during the day.

I'm so used to the anxiety that I try to ride it out during the day. Physical things like pain & pressure in my chest--I just have to tell myself I'm not having a heart attack (been checked for any problems there) & deep breath until it subsides.

I'm so sorry for your break-up. Hope the short-term use of Valium will help you get through some of the rough parts you are experiencing now. Take care.--Suzy
