I have been taking xanax .25 for 6 weeks , at first it seemed to do the job, it helped me sleep it made alot of my anxiety disappear and I stopped feeling so edgy and jumpy. Now its almost like I have a tolerence to it. It doesnt seem to be helping at all. I have all those problems again. I heard that valium also helps with the symptoms of PTSD. Is that true? Does anyone have any success stories? Thanks for all replies...............................................

No success stories here, I've only been prescribed Valium (only 4 pills) back in 1979 when my car was stolen at gunpoint (was very traumatizing) my doctor, actually a general surgeon I was going to for removal of breast cysts at that time gave me a 4 tablet script to calm me down, he did not want to give me more because they are highly addictive, and yes both of the drugs you mentioned are addictive and you do build up a tolerance quite quickly, both are "controlled substances". It would be safer to try talk therapy with a reputable therapist, instead of the pills, then see if your doc still feels you should be taking them.
Take care,

I started on Xanax a few weeks ago and it was great! I'm at a high dosage 4-5mg a day as prescribed by my doctor. But after a week it seemed to wear off a bit, I'm not sure if that's because I've developed a tolerance or not, or because of interactions with changes in my other medications, namely Geodon.

I started at 5 for a day, then went down to 4 for a week, then back up to 5 since... yep, and it hardly phases me, mostly I think because I'm experiencing side effects of Geodon that counter-act the Xanax, but that's just my theory and the doctor doesn't think that's possible
