I went back on Abilify about one month ago after a 4 year hiatus since I can afford it again. I loved it then and I love it again. It evens my keel. I do not want to gain weight though. Is that a given?

I have been on and off abilify a few times. At first it pulled me out of a cave and I could live again. Then it wore off in less than a year at many dosages. So I quit. Then went on it again half a year later and it worked again. Then not so I went off. Now I'm on again and it has quelled the internal fighting but for how long. I may have gained a few pounds on it but not nearly like I did with seroquel and risperidone. It's been really helpful, though, but short shelf life for me.
Thanks for this!

I've been on abilify since the end of November and can't say that I've gained any weight. Actually I lost weight in the first couple of months.

I love it too - haven't been on it long enough to notice weight gain & my pants still fit... def the best one I've been on.

I'm glad I asked about the weight gain and that is good news from you, but I don't like hearing the effects wear off. Have you asked a professional about this?

No. It's generally considered weight neutral. Most people don't gain weight on it. If they do, it's usually very minimal.

I haven't had a pdoc for a long time so I'm stuck. There isn't one here anymore and the last one sucked. Drugs wear off with me in a year or two usually, but others do well on the same drugs for longer. It could just be me. Abilify has been really helpful three times and I have lots of leftovers so I go on again when needed. Good luck to you and if it works then you'll probably get the good of it for a long time.

I have gained weight on abilify but I don't think it does that for everyone.

I have been on Abilify short term, all together about 3 month, constant weight gain about 1.5 kg a week and most irritating part it all went on belly(mainly) and chest. I got fatter even looking at any carbs :-)
